Hello my friend

 

It’s lovely to be here with you again. Thank you for choosing to spend time in your day reading these words. This blog is all about giving you great, helpful information to help you along your path towards a more connected human.

 

I regularly provide a review on a book or podcast that has supported, challenged and inspired me as I continue down my path getting the connection that I need and deserve in my life.

 

This podcast supports and inspires me. I rarely miss an episode of it. Given that it’s the world’s most popular podcast, chances are you’re already listening to it too.

Imagine this: It’s 5.40am and I’ve got my running shoes on and I’m walking out the door. I’m walking to the gym.

 

I get my headphones out, put them into my ears, open Spotify and tap ‘play’ on the latest episode of Mel’s podcast. The door closes behind me, I take a deep breath of the pre-dawn air and I hear ‘Hey, it’s your friend Mel. Welcome to The Mel Robbins Podcast’.


I feel like I’m spending time with a friend. A friend who’s very wise and funny.

 

And a huge dag.

 

And that’s why I like listening to her. Mel’s a huge, relatable dag.

 

And dags are my kind of people.

So many episodes of The Mel Robbins Podcast have useful content for me. I tend to hear them just when I need to hear them.

 

The content is so full of wisdom and insight that oftentimes it feels like I’m trying to drink from a firehose. The conversations often stop me in my tracks and send me diving for my notebook or fumbling into a pocket to retrieve my phone and open the Notes app. My gym notebook is full of phrases of wisdom or ideas I’ve had for content to share with you.

 

The content frequently makes my eyes well up with tears as Mel’s guests – and Mel herself – share something about their lives that is profoundly beautiful. I’ve had to stop my workout mid-set to dry my eyes many times.


My gym is a really dusty place, apparently...

 

There are many episodes of The Mel Robbins Podcast that have really stuck with me. So much so that I’ve created a ‘Listen on Tough Days’ Spotify playlist into which I save these impactful episodes because they contain wisdom and insight that I want to hear when I’m having one of those tough days.

 

Content on loneliness and human connection are often mentioned, and Mel’s guests are often people who work on human connection. When content about loneliness and human connection is discussed, it’s often done in a way that’s subtle. It’s more subtle than our content.

It is a goal of mine to appear as a guest on The Mel Robbins Podcast to talk about our work at HUMANS:CONNECTING. I feel that it’d be one of those conversations that many would put into their ‘Listen on Tough Days’ playlists. 

 

Mel’s content and the way she delivers it can be summed up in these three words:


Honesty

Humour

Hope

 

Oh, and dagginess (but that doesn’t start with h).




Why you need to listen to it
 

I feel you’d benefit from listening to the diverse experts from a variety of disciplines that she talks with on her podcast. She has experts on menopause, perimenopause, psychology, neurodiversity, parenthood, relationships, dealing with regrets, amongst so many others.

 

Mel has the skill and presence to speak with the expert and either summarise what the expert said or have the expert share their research and insight with us without any bullshit.

 

It’s amazing. Simply, there’s rarely an episode that does not leave me feeling more informed and more inspired than before I pressed play. I feel you could benefit from that, too.
