Speaking topics

Phil’s talks explore human connection and the relational infrastructure that allows people, organisations and societies to function well together.

INDIVIDUALS

How human connection shapes our lives, our sense of belonging, and the relationships that sustain us.

FINDING AND OWNING OUR CONNECTION NEEDS

Leadership, collaboration and wellbeing all begin with understanding our own need for connection. Drawing on personal experience and practical insight, Phil helps audiences recognise, name and own their connection needs, and build the confidence to express them in relationships, teams and communities.

THE HUMAN SEARCH FOR BELONGING

Every human seeks belonging, yet life transitions - from starting university to midlife and retirement - can amplify disconnection. This talk explores how people can cultivate authentic relationships and a sense of belonging throughout the stages of life.

BECOMING A PLACE OF WELCOME

Meaningful connection rarely begins with grand gestures. It begins with everyday actions that signal welcome, safety and recognition. This talk explores how individuals can become places of welcome in their families, workplaces and communities to improve connection (and reduce loneliness) for people around them.

WORKPLACES

Exploring the relational infrastructure that influences leadership, collaboration and organisational performance.

WHY STRATEGY FAILS WHEN RELATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE FRACTURES

Many strategies fail not because the plan is wrong, but because the relational conditions required to execute it are unstable. This talk introduces the concept of relational infrastructure and explores how trust, alignment and communication shape organisational performance.

THE HIDDEN LAYER OF ORGANISATIONAL PERFORMANCE

Most organisations measure outputs but overlook the relational dynamics that shape collaboration, trust and coordination. This talk explores the invisible layer of performance that sits beneath strategy, culture and leadership.

THE LONELINESS OF LEADERSHIP

Leadership can be profoundly lonely. This talk examines the relational pressures leaders carry and explores how connection supports sustainable leadership and healthy organisational cultures.

EXECUTION STABILITY UNDER PRESSURE

High-performing organisations depend on stable relational conditions. This talk explores how teams maintain trust, coordination and accountability in complex and high-pressure environments.

GOVERNMENT

Considering how policy, institutions and public systems shape connection, belonging and social cohesion.

HUMAN CONNECTION AS PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE

Connection is often treated as a personal experience, yet it also functions as a form of social infrastructure. This talk explores how policies, services and institutions shape connection, belonging and participation in society.

LONELINESS AS A SOCIAL HEALTH CHALLENGE

Loneliness is increasingly recognised as a major social challenge with implications for public health and community wellbeing. This talk explores loneliness through social health and public policy lenses and examines how institutions can recognise and respond to rising disconnection.

DESIGNING COMMUNITIES FOR BELONGING

Belonging does not happen by accident. It is shaped by the environments we build and the institutions we create. This talk explores how governments and public systems can strengthen connection and social cohesion.

SYSTEMS &
SOCIETY

Examining the broader relational conditions that influence trust, cooperation and stability across modern societies.

RELATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND SOCIAL COHESION

Healthy societies depend on relational conditions that allow people and institutions to function well together. This talk introduces the concept of relational infrastructure and explores its role in supporting trust, cooperation and social cohesion.

REBUILDING TRUST IN COMPLEX SYSTEMS

Many modern institutions are experiencing declining trust and growing fragmentation. This talk explores how relational trust is built, how it fractures and what it means to strengthen trust across complex systems.

HUMANITY IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Technology is reshaping how we work, relate, make meaning and find purpose. This talk explores the relationship between humanity and technology. It asks how societies can embrace innovation while preserving empathy, purpose and belonging.
